invisibleSHIELD review!

Technorati Tags: gadget protection, Gadgets, invisibleSHIELD, ipod nano, ipod protection, k750It’s been a long time since we’ve blogged but now we are back and here’s a review of ShieldZone’s invisibleSHIELD.

One of the biggest problems all of us gadget-lovers constantly faced is scratches to our beloved toys. Despite using other protective covers, I still discover small scratches here and there but they could all be gone if ShieldZone’s invisibleSHIELD fulfills its promise of keeping gadgets scratch-free.
The invisibleSHIELD is an ultra-strong thin, transparent film which protects your gadgets from scratches. Originally developed for protecting helicopter rotor blades from wear and tear, it is here now for a number of gadgets! I have here 2 invisibleSHIELDs from ShieldZone, one for the ipod nano and the other for the Sony Ericsson k750 where I’ll attempt to give a thorough review and hopefully finish scratch-free:

Contents: Includes a squeegee, SHIELDSpray, instructions and the invisibleSHIELD:

Application Procedure: I have to admit that this process might take some time since it involves sticking the invisibleSHIELD which has been pre-cut to the standard dimensions of the gadget but it is very easy to follow. It took me about 5 minutes to attach the invisibleSHIELD on the k750 screen and about 15 minutes for a full body shield for the ipod Nano. These are the steps involved when putting on the shield:
1. Turn gadget off with battery removed if possible, peel invisibleSHIELD from paper backing.
2. Spray both sides of invisibleSHIELD with SHIELDspray (a liquid which aids the sticking and alignment process and also reduces the bubbles formed) provided.
3. Apply invisibleSHIELD on gadget and align them to your gadget.
4. Use squeegee to push excess moisture and bubbles from under the invisibleSHIELD.
5. Soak up excess moisture with a paper towel and let gadget dry for 24 hours.
Here’s the picture showing the gadgets with the invisibleSHIELD on them:

The first thing I noticed is that the invisibleSHIELD can hardly be seen and the colour, contrast and brightness of the screen barely changed. That’s good news but will it pass the scratch test?
Scratch Test: I was abit hesitant to scratch my own gadgets even when they are already protected by invisibleSHIELD until I found this fan video. That made me a little more confident so I’ve made a video of myself testing the invisibleSHIELD by scratching the screen on my k750 using a key:
So if you managed to see my video and the fan video, I’m sure you would be amazed that you can hardly find any scratches formed on the screen.
Conclusion: Despite some hassle in putting on the invisibleSHIELD, I am definitely impressed by the invisibleSHIELD and I’ll definitely make sure I buy one everytime a new gadget joins the family. =)

I just don’t trust it. I just ordered my Video 80GB iPod online tonight and should be getting it this weekend. Right now I’m ordering the Dock, Power Adapter, and a Case for it.
I’m very anal about my stuff, especially Electronics. So to spray some liquid on some plastic cover and then put it on my ipod TO DRY….Oh no. I don’t think so.
And plus, it doesn’t seem reliable enough to me. I thought this was a hard case but it’s just plastic. Does it stay on forever, if I put it on wrong, am I not able to pull it off and try again without it breaking or stretching or not being able to restick?
It’s just too much. I’m about to order this Crystal Plastic Case by AGENT 18 which I think will do me fine for now.

InnerRise, if you put it wrongly, you can adjust it before the liquid dries up. I don’t see any reason why you want to remove the shield after it has dried up but if you still wanna do it, I’m not sure whether it’s possible or not (I’m not gonna try!)
It’s very good though, the screen colour remains very clear and the protection is very strong.

I just got the Motorola KRZR K1m from Sprint. The phone is only available in Black and is horrible when it comes to fingerprints and smudges. You have to wipe it off constantly. Would this Shield that you reviewed be a good idea for eliminating this problem?
08
Probably not… cos we get fingerprints on the screen shield as well. But it does its job in protecting from scratches very well.
09
Is it just me or does that ipod scratch test video at untenohana.com not do anything? Or is it some kind of dumb joke where you click the mouse all over the ipod and it doesn’t scratch?

The video went down, I guess. I couldn’t play it here as well.

Hello. I was looking for a review on this. Thanks! Would it be possible for you to compare the InvisibleSHIELD to ExpertShield? I’ve seen the BoxWave one and read a review saying the ExpertShield was better than the BoxWave so now I’m down to these two. I’m looking for one for my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100R LCD screen. Thanks!
